Women’s Support
At the Back Porch we are dedicated to helping women experiencing unplanned pregnancies make mature, educated and healthy decisions that they can live with. We are life-affirming and encourage you to choose life for your unborn baby and for yourself.
These are some questions that you should ask yourself (and the clinic) before you make your decision:
- Have you spoken with a pregnancy counselor not employed by the abortion clinic? You need objective information on your options from someone who will not pressure you. Often your family, boyfriend or spouse and your friends do not have the information you need to make a decision. They might be well-meaning but their influence is often emotional rather than factual.
- Is anyone pushing you to have an abortion? Do they threaten to leave you, throw you out or withdraw support if you have the baby? Are they coming with you to the abortion clinic to make sure you go through with it? If left to yourself, would you choose to have the baby?
- Are you unsure if you believe in abortion, but think maybe it’s the best thing “under the circumstances”?
- Is this your first pregnancy?
- Are you aware of the risks and possible side effects of abortion? Do you know what happens during the procedure?
If you are in an unplanned pregnancy and considering abortion, you should try to answer honestly all of these questions. This should help you to clarify your decision.
