About the Back Porch

“Reaching out to abortion-minded women and men by promoting life-affirming and healthy options.”

Located on 10958 124 St. in Edmonton, Alberta, the Back Porch is an 11th hour ministry to women and men reconsidering their decision to have an abortion. Over 5000 abortions are performed each year at the Woman’s Health Options clinic (formerly the Morgentaler Clinic).  We encounter women and men from all over central and northern Alberta with different backgrounds and situations. If you have an unplanned pregnancy, please phone or drop by the office and our volunteers would be happy to speak to you about your options.

The Back Porch is a friendly, welcoming, non-judgmental environment staffed by volunteers, some of whom have themselves experienced unplanned pregnancies and abortion. We provide information about abortion, adoption and parenting, and referrals appropriate for your situation. We have a good network of support organizations for pre- and post-abortion counseling, and birthing assistance.

Coping with an unplanned pregnancy is difficult. Whatever decision you make is life-changing and irreversible. We want to ensure you are thoroughly informed about all your options before you make a decision.

Please feel free to drop by (corner of 109 A Ave. & 124th St.) Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. to speak with a volunteer.  Or if you’d prefer, call Amanda at the office at (780) 421-9941 or email amanda@thebackporch.info.
